Avoid baby-ing your children, especially as they grow up. Expect them that they are capable of returning their toys on their own, or arranging their stuff. If you keep on assuming they won’t, you’ll end up having to do these minor chores on their behalf. Children, on the other hand, will also get used to this setup.
However, learn to manage your expectations. Don’t ask for too much from your children. Assess if they are capable of performing an activity on their own.
Develop their sense of responsibility early on by assigning them with simple tasks. There are easy chores you can assign your kids, such as wiping the table, arranging their toys, or making their beds.
Let kids work their way towards a solution. If they are having troubles using the remote control and pressing the right key, give them time to figure out before jumping in and showing them how to use the control.
There are many times when children are challenged by little things. It could be as they play puzzles or building blocks. Nevertheless, resist the urge to solving everything for your children. A little challenge doesn’t hurt. In fact, it only motivates them to think out of the box.
